Make sure you submit an amount of damage equal to your policy limits PLUS your deductible amount.
When your flood insurance payment is calculated, the deductible should be subtracted from the COST OF REPAIR not the policy limits.
The NFIP has kept this little clause secret. The flood insurance adjusters SHOULD inform the claimants of this — which they refer to as “absorbing the deductible”.
Please pass this information to your friends and family that may not know that they are eligible to recover their full policy limits, including their deductible!
