This is the second year Gulf Shores is “banning” alcohol from its beaches premises.
Is the City doing this for safety or profit???
The ban started two years ago in the wake of an Oklahoma college student being struck and killed by a vehicle. The ban received quite a bit of publicity because it was directly targeting college students (specifically LSU students).
Is the City in it for pecuniary gain??? Probably.
There is a money fine for anyone that is not abiding by the temporary ban. Bring your liquor to the beach at your own risk (or don’t get caught).
Is the City in it for the safety of its residents (and college students)??? YES. The ban was created by residents of the Gulf Shores community that lived near the scene of the Oklahoma student’s death.
From a trial lawyers perspective, is the ban legal? YES! Many LSU fans can associate this to the (non)-ban of alcohol on the streets of LSU’s campus for games. Try to do it any other time and you will be ticketed.
Let me know if this was helpful.
